Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules that apply to everyone who uses GrubFairy's platform, including customers, restaurant and vendor partners, and delivery riders ("Users"). It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By using GrubFairy you agree to comply with this AUP.

2. General Conduct

All Users must:

  • Treat other Users, GrubFairy staff, and the general public with respect and courtesy.
  • Provide accurate and truthful information during registration and throughout their use of the platform.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • Use the platform only for its intended purpose — ordering, preparing, or delivering food.

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on GrubFairy:

  • Fraud and misrepresentation: Creating fake accounts, placing fraudulent orders, submitting false refund claims, or misrepresenting a business identity.
  • Harassment and abuse: Threatening, bullying, discriminating against, or using abusive language toward any User, delivery rider, vendor, or GrubFairy staff member.
  • Platform manipulation: Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the platform; artificially inflating ratings or reviews; or interfering with other Users' access to the service.
  • Unsafe food practices: Vendors may not list expired, adulterated, or unsafe food items. All food preparation must meet applicable hygiene and safety standards.
  • Illegal content or activity: Using the platform to facilitate illegal transactions, distribute harmful content, or engage in any activity that violates Nigerian law.
  • Data misuse: Collecting, scraping, or storing personal data of other Users without their consent, or using delivery information for purposes unrelated to order fulfilment.
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, vendor, or rider, or using another User's account without authorisation.

4. Vendor-Specific Rules

  • Vendors must maintain valid CAC registration and food hygiene certification throughout their partnership.
  • Menu items must be accurately described, including ingredients, portion sizes, and allergen information where applicable.
  • Vendors must honour the prices listed on the platform and may not charge customers differently outside the app for orders placed through GrubFairy.
  • Vendors must prepare orders promptly and ensure food is packaged safely for delivery.

5. Rider-Specific Rules

  • Riders must maintain valid documentation (driver's licence, vehicle registration) and keep their vehicle in safe operating condition.
  • Riders must handle food deliveries with care to prevent spillage, contamination, or tampering.
  • Riders may not consume, open, or tamper with food items being delivered.
  • Riders must follow all traffic laws and prioritise safety over speed.

6. Enforcement

GrubFairy reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this AUP. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violation, enforcement actions may include:

  • A written warning via email or in-app notification.
  • Temporary suspension of your account.
  • Permanent termination of your account and removal from the platform.
  • Withholding of pending payouts where fraud or financial misconduct is established.
  • Reporting to law enforcement authorities where criminal activity is suspected.

7. Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this policy, please report it through the in-app support feature or by emailing [email protected]. All reports are reviewed and treated confidentially.
